Voices for Change - Jit Bhattacharya, BasiGo
Published on
In this episode of Voices for Change, Jit Bhattacharya, co-founder and CEO of BasiGo, explains how electric mobility can transform public transport systems across Africa and support the transition towards more sustainable cities.
In Kenya, matatus are at the heart of the public transport ecosystem, connecting millions of people every day to jobs, education and essential services. But as cities continue to grow, rising fuel costs, air pollution and climate change are exposing the limits of diesel-powered transport. BasiGo is developing 100% electric buses designed and assembled locally and powered by East Africa’s abundant renewable energy. Through this model, the company aims to accelerate the transition towards cleaner, more accessible and more resilient mobility systems across the continent.
