Proparco and TBC are stepping up their partnership to support Georgia’s SME fabric, following a first partnership initiated in 2012.
Client presentation
JSC TBC Bank (TBC) is a major banking player in the Caucasus region and contributes to supporting Georgia’s SME fabric affected by the Covid-19 crisis. TBC has developed extensive expertise in financing MSMEs in Georgia: the bank has a market share of up to 25% in this segment. It also offers innovative products, including loans for women entrepreneurs and loans for innovative companies, green investments and start-ups.
Project description
The operation involves a USD 50m credit line allocated to TBC, which will be earmarked to finance Georgian SMEs.
Project impact
The credit line allocated by Proparco will support:
- Georgia’s economic development by financing over 1,600 SMEs, mainly operating in the hotel and leisure, agriculture and trade sectors;
- 67,800 jobs over the next 5 years, mainly in the SMEs which will be financed.
