Proparco has invested €15 million to guarantee the documentary credit operations of VistaGui and thereby strengthen the bank’s activities in Guinea.
Client presentation
VistaGui is a subsidiary of Vista Bank Group, a major player in Africa’s banking landscape. With more than 200 employees and a network of 15 branches, the bank offers a comprehensive range of financial products and services tailored to the needs of individuals and companies. It focuses on innovation, digitalization and financial inclusion, actively supporting the economic development of Guinea. VistaGui stands out for its commitment to quality, customer services and corporate social responsibility, which strengthens its position in the country’s banking ecosystem.
Project description
Proparco provides guarantees for documentary credit operations for which Vista Gui is the final beneficiary: as this subsidiary operates in an LDC, the development of its trade finance operations is limited. Indeed, it encounters difficulties in finding confirming banks for the documentary credits it issues.
Project impact
The interest of this operation is twofold:
- Definite impact on the country’s economy:
Support for growth, and especially in the current macroeconomic and political context.
Increase in the resources available to issuing banks due to the reduction, through a guarantee, of the level of pledges of securities that they need to constitute with confirming banks.
- Program under development:
The DFIs that offer these guarantee operations, which historically have low claim rates, often consider them as an interesting tool for establishing business relationships with new bank clients, a relationship which can subsequently be developed with other more long-term types of financing.
