Proparco is supporting the development strategy of Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) Tanzania in its MSME segment by signing an ARIZ portfolio guarantee equivalent to EUR 5m.
Client presentation
Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) Tanzania Ltd is a Tanzanian commercial bank set up in 1946. It is part of Diamond Trust Bank Group, which operates in East Africa. It particularly focuses on the corporate client and SME segments.
Project description
The operation signed between Proparco and DTB Tanzania involves an ARIZ portfolio guarantee allocated in Tanzanian shillings (TZS) equivalent to EUR 5m. The project aims to support DTB Tanzania’s development strategy in its SME segment and targets all sectors of activity (excluding oil, coal and gas, in line with France’s commitments under the Paris Agreement). By covering 50% of the amount of eligible loans allocated to Tanzanian MSMEs by the bank, the risk-sharing tool will guarantee EUR 10m of new loans.
Project impact
A total of some 150 MSMEs should be supported through this guarantee and some 450 jobs supported over the next few years.
