Through the Bridge Fund by Digital Africa, Proparco is supporting Field Intelligence, a company that develops data-based solutions to allow health services to optimize the management of their services and ensure good access to healthcare for people.
Client presentation
Field Intelligence was set up in 2015 to provide health supply chain solutions in order to democratize access to healthcare and essential treatment. The company has developed a distribution service for retail pharmacies with data-based planning, implementation and financing solutions.
Project description
Bridge Fund by Digital Africa is promoted by Digital Africa and deployed by Proparco. It aims to provide an appropriate response to the challenges faced by innovative African start-ups, whose development is hampered by the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. A bridging loan has been allocated to Field Intelligence to provide additional leeway until the planned Series B.
In Africa, a billion people rely on their pharmacy for their treatments, but the pharmacies face challenges that prevent them from providing an adequate service to the community. Due to the fragmentation of the market, poor data management and inadequate financing, pharmacies find it difficult to anticipate demand and plan and maintain a suitable supply, which leads to overstocking (with a high risk of products expiring) or stockouts.
Project impact
This Bridge Fund by Digital Africa is a tool to accelerate the growth of start-ups and a solution in response to the increased financing difficulties related to the Covid-19 crisis.
