Proparco is supporting Dabchy’s international development objective via financing from the Bridge Fund by Digital Africa, which allows young start-ups to rapidly obtain financing.
Client presentation
Dabchy is an online platform for selling second-hand clothes between individuals and the first of its kind in Tunisia. Based on the same model as players such as Vinted in Europe, Dabchy connects sellers who present the items they no longer want through a virtual dressing room and fix the price. Buyers can dialogue on the platform to buy the products, negotiate the price, or simply ask questions about the products on sale.
Project description
The financing from the Bridge Fund by Digital Africa will allow Dabchy to go international and will extend the company’s runway by 5-6 months.
The health crisis has delayed Dabchy’s fundraising, which is under discussion with potential investors. The Bridge financing has allowed Dabchy to keep all its employees and continue its activities.
Project impact
BRIDGE is a fund launched by Digital Africa and deployed by Proparco in response to the short and long-term funding challenges faced by African start-ups. It aims to support start-ups affected by the Covid-19 crisis and companies in the seed stage or between fundraisings, by providing them with access to venture capital funds, a form of financing not easily available in Africa.
