Overview
Christophe Lecourtier has served as Chief Executive Officer of the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) since May 11, 2026.
A graduate of the École normale supérieure de Saint-Cloud, Sciences Po Paris, and the École nationale d’administration (Victor Hugo class), Christophe Lecourtier began his career in 1991 at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, within the Directorate of External Economic Relations.
He subsequently held several positions within economic and financial administrations, as well as in several ministerial offices. Between 2005 and 2007, he served as Secretary General of the Directorate General of the Treasury and Economic Policy.
In 2008, he was appointed Director General of Ubifrance, the agency responsible for the international development of French companies, a position he held until 2014.
He served as French ambassador to Australia from 2014 to 2017, then to Serbia in 2017, before becoming Director General of Business France from 2017 to 2022, following the merger of Ubifrance and the Invest in France Agency.
