Proparco has joined forces with a key player in trade, Touton, which employs most of its staff in Africa and contributes to business activity on the continent.
Client presentation
Founded in Bordeaux in 1848, Touton Group is a major player in the global trade of tropical agricultural commodities (cocoa, coffee, spices and ingredients, including spices and vanilla). It employs about 900 people worldwide, largely in Africa.
Project description
This project involves a risk sub-participation in the form of a guarantee on a USD 45m financing facility allocated by BIC-BRED Suisse SA (a subsidiary of the French bank Bred-Banque Populaire which is specialized in trade finance) to its French client trader Touton.
Project impact
This risk-sharing operation complements Proparco’s existing range of Trade Finance products.
It will enable Touton to continue to finance its operations on a permanent basis. It will also contribute to maintaining access to decent jobs and reducing inequalities in several countries where Proparco operates.
