By allocating a grant to La Laiterie Kossam, Proparco is helping structure agricultural sectors through high-impact SMEs.
Client presentation
La Laiterie Kossam is a company based in Burkina Faso set up by M. Sidibé in 2000. It markets dairy products in the west region of Burkina Faso, selling pasteurized milk, gapal and degue in the city of Bobo and Cascades region. Building on 25 years of experience in processing and marketing dairy products, the founder has set up a network involving farmers’ associations and cooperatives to source local raw materials.
Project description
Proparco’s financing is supporting the development of the activity of La Laiterie Kossam which is going to set up sales kiosks in five strategic regions in the country. Each kiosk is equipped with a refrigerator and powered entirely by solar energy to limit the carbon impact and avoid difficulties caused by power cuts. In a competitive market, the company also benefits from assistance in implementing good practices for account management and the definition of its business strategy.
The financing for La Laiterie Kossam is in line with Proparco’s “Fragile Countries” strategy which aims to structure agricultural sectors by supporting “champion” SMEs. In addition to contributing to the development and structuring of the dairy industry in Burkina Faso, this assistance is supporting a relevant player in the dairy industry in the Sahel. It is also providing experience in this value chain for subsequent support in Burkina Faso and other Sahel countries.
