Under the Bridge Fund by Digital Africa, Proparco is supporting Julaya, a company that digitizes financial flows between companies, their employees and their suppliers.
Client presentation
Julaya is a web and mobile platform that enables African companies, especially SMEs, to make bulk payments on the Mobile Money accounts of their employees and suppliers. The platform enables payments through all Mobile Money operators (for example, MTN, Orange Money, Wave, Moov). Julaya also offers its clients prepaid Mastercards to allow their employees to pay their business expenses during domestic and international trips.
Project description
Under the Bridge Fund by Digital Africa, Proparco has allocated a EUR 470,000 loan to Julaya for the development of its activity and its business development objective for 2024. The Bridge Fund by Digital Africa will complete the seed extension round sought by Julaya with EUR 750,000 of financing.
Project impact
In Africa, 65% of payments are made in cash and more than 90% of salaries are paid in cash. The digitization of flows through the Julaya platform has many impacts:
- Adaptation of companies to the low level of use of the banking system in the region,
- Increase in the financial inclusion rate through access to all Mobile Money Wallets (penetration rate above 80%),
- Time savings and reduction of risks and losses related to the management of large amounts of cash (theft, error, fraud…).
