Proparco has partnered with Union Internationale de Banques (UIB) to strengthen its support to Tunisian SMEs affected by the crisis.
Client presentation
Union Internationale de Banques (UIB) was set up in 1964 and is today one of the main private banks in Tunisia. It is a member of Société Générale Group. It stands out for its commitment to MSMEs, which includes the implementation of dedicated financial products.
Project description
The EUR 1m portfolio guarantee (TND 3,250,000) allocated by Proparco will allow UIB to offer loans with an 80% guarantee from AFD Group to Tunisian small and medium-sized enterprises weakened by the crisis. UIB will thereby be able to strengthen its range of “exceptional Covid-19 loans” set up when the health crisis started.
Project impact
Once UIB has examined the financing requests, companies with less than 250 employees affected by the crisis may be allocated loans with maturities ranging between 12 and 60 months. This guarantee will allow UIB to increase its loan portfolio for “exceptional Covid-19 loans” for Tunisian MSMEs and start-ups. It will thereby contribute to strengthening the resilience of the local entrepreneurial fabric.
