By supporting the Employers’ Association of Cameroon (GICAM), Proparco is helping strengthen corporate governance in Cameroon

Client presentation

The Employers’ Association of Cameroon (GICAM) is the main organization representing the private sector in Cameroon. GICAM is an association governed by Law n° 90/53 of 19 December 1990 on the freedom of association. It is a secular and non-partisan organization, independent of any governmental or non-governmental institution.

GICAM brings together professional groups and individual companies. It currently has over 1,000 members.   

GICAM represents the private sector before the public authorities on major economic issues, including: the business environment and business ethics, business competitiveness, vocational training and youth employment, the taxation of development and infrastructure. 

Project description

The project aims to help GICAM establish a corporate governance framework in Cameroon by preparing and promoting a Corporate Governance Code in Cameroon. 

A consulting firm specialized in the governance aspects has been selected to carry out this mission alongside GICAM. The project is financed by AFD and PROPARCO. The project will:

  • Strengthen corporate governance in Cameroon
  • Reduce the risks and effects of corruption in Cameroon
  • Increase confidence 
  • Strengthen growth
