Along with IFC, Proparco is supporting Express Union Tchad to strengthen local financial inclusion.

Client presentation

Express Union Chad (EUT), a subsidiary of the Cameroonian Express Union Group, is a company specialized in cash transfers and microfinance based in N'Djamena. At year-end 2023, it had about 27,000 clients and a nationwide network of 37 branches.

Project description

The objective of this financing is to promote financial inclusion in Chad by targeting the segments of private individuals and MSMEs based on a Bottom of the Pyramid (BOP) approach. It thus aims to strengthen EUT’s operations with micro and small entrepreneurs in Chad, especially in rural areas. This sector will be the focus of the microfinance institution’s new strategy. Proparco has provided this financing under a co-financing operation with IFC.

Project impact

The expected impacts of this project are as follows:

  • Support for the local economy by financing the entrepreneurial fabric, especially in remote rural areas in Chad  
  • Support for 24 direct and indirect jobs
  • Access to micro-credit for 133 beneficiaries 

The SDGs targeted by the project are SDG n° 1 (No poverty), SDG n° 8 (Decent work and economic growth) and SDG n° 10 (Reduced inequalities).
