Financing arranged by IFC will help Dolidol expand to Nigeria and make its activities in Morocco more environmentally-friendly. This will create hundreds of direct and indirect jobs in these two countries.
Client presentation
Dolidol (Uni Confort Maroc) was set up by the Berrada family in 1972. It has become the leader on the mattress market in Morocco, with well-known brands. Dolidol is part of Palmeraie Group, which is also owned by the Berrada family. It has become one of the largest Moroccan groups in the industry, education and agriculture sectors. Dolidol currently has over 1,200 employees and a turnover of EUR 65m.
Project description
The project aims to:
- Refinance the acquisition by Dolidol of 60% of the shares of Mouka, the Nigerian leader for mattresses and mattress foam
- Finance investments in Dolicen, Dolidol’s new subsidiary, which will produce recycled products (with recycled polyethylene, for example) from used bottles
- Install solar panels in Dolidol’s plants in Dar Bouazza, with a total capacity of 1.25 MW.
Project impact
The project should support 10,200 indirect jobs over the next 5 years. Through the investments to increase its energy efficiency and improve the vertical integration of its production lines, the project should reduce emissions by 36,000 tCO2e a year.
