Proparco has extended its support to Anka, by renewing its equity investment in the company.
Client presentation
Anka, formerly known as Afrikrea, is a company specialized in the edition of software solutions that allow African MSMEs to market their products online and internationally. It offers its clients a marketplace (“Afrikrea”), where they can market their products for a commission, as well as a range of subscription-based software solutions (“Anka”). This gives them tools for marketing, stock management, parcel deliveries and the receipt of payments.
Project description
The operation involves an extension of the capital increase, which was held in December 2021.
Project impact
The main expected impacts are as follows:
- Support for the development of a start-up offering products to African MSMEs
- Support for about 31 direct jobs and 154 indirect jobs over the next 5 years
- From a gender perspective, 80% of the 15,000 sellers using the “Anka” platform are women.
The project will contribute to SDGs 8 (“Decent work and economic growth”), 9 (“Industry, innovation and infrastructure”) and 12 (“Responsible consumption and production”).
