Client presentation
AEGEA SANEAMENTO was set up in late 2010 and is the main undertaking of Equipav Group. It is the third largest private operator in the water and sanitation sector in Brazil. The company manages some 25 projects in 5 States in Brazil: Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul and Santa Catarina.
Project description
Proparco’s funding will finance part of the investments provided for in the concession contracts held by AEGEA in four municipalities. These investments will mainly aim to increase drinking water production, extend the drinking water distribution network, and improve the quality and coverage of the wastewater collection and treatment network.
Project impact
The project is expected to contribute to a quantitative improvement in access to drinking water (+150,000 people over the next five years) and to wastewater collection and treatment services (+260,000 people over the next five years) in 4 municipalities in Brazil. It will contribute to climate change adaptation in the Sao Paulo area by improving water resources management (7.4 million m3 of water saved every year).
